Soma

Recapture your creativity and immerse yourself in 22-acres of rainforest outside of Byron Bay at this modern hinterland home. Throw that unforgettable corporate getaway, yoga retreat, or family reunion; Soma was designed with group activity in mind. If you feel like you’d rather some alone time, sneak away to read in the garden or drive 10-minutes to a cafe in downtown Byron Bay. Thoughtfully designed for the entire group, Soma uses an open-concept layout to create spaces for gatherings, like the lengthy dining table inside. On the outside, a cluster of smaller bistro tables creates a space where the entire group can get together, but break away for more intimate moments. The main floor is outlined by floor-to-ceiling windows, framing beautiful hillside views. The decor is modern, completely clutter-free, yet warm wood tones give a sense of home. Spend lazy afternoons by the freshwater pool, mornings working out in the yoga-dome, and nights stargazing from a lounge chair. When you’re ready to hit the beach, drive 20-minutes to Cape Byron. In the morning, the surf is legendary, and lessons are easy to find. If you’re feeling extra adventurous, check out some of the dive sites along the reef. After, snap a few pictures of the iconic lighthouse at the edge of Cape Byron State Conservation Park. If you’re traveling between June and November, pack a picnic and find a lookout spot along the coast, you might just spot a humpback whale or two. The Soma Abode is additional accommodation nestled in the bamboo forest, offering a lovely private area away from the main house, but short enough distance to walk between the two. The shared room features 3 single beds, bathroom, living area, kitchen and massive sun deck for reading and yoga. The room can be arranged for couples, with a king size bed. We provide 100% linen bedspreads, beach towels, room dividers and there is a walk-in wardrobe for storage. Copyright © Luxury Retreats. All rights reserved. Tussie Mussie

Sunshine chases the mist from vineyards, ponds, and gently rolling hills at this rural haven in the Australian countryside outside Melbourne. Accommodations are spread out between a lodge, a cottage, and the playfully named Old Laundry, all with soft Provençal colors. It’s a short drive to a selection of golf courses, beaches, and wine tastings in the heart of the Mornington Peninsula wine region. The property’s grounds tempt guests outdoors with sculpture and cottage gardens, a tennis court, a 7-acre vineyard, and a vegetable garden teeming with fresh herbs and produce. Walk past the vineyard to spot wallabies in the bush beyond, and fire up the pizza oven and barbecue for lunch and dinner at the alfresco table. The outdoor areas allow groups up to 14 people to gather in one place. Soft tones, natural textures, and bistro-inspired furnishings bring a little bit of France to the interiors of the lodge, cottage, and laundry. Each has its own living area, and there are 2 fully equipped kitchens and a kitchenette for flexibility. For smaller groups, you can reserve just 1 or 2 of the buildings, or all 3 to share the excitement most widely. Spend your holiday teeing off on the 5 golf courses within 30 kilometers, or see a different side of the outdoors on a day trip to Point Nepean National Park. Visit Balnarring Beach in the morning to watch racehorses train or in the afternoon for a swim off its sandy shores. Copyright © Luxury Retreats. All rights reserved. Elevation Byron Bay

Architecturally intriguing, this villa encapsulates the laid-back, beachy attitude of life Down Under. Located in Byron Bay, a quaint coastal town, it’s ideal for an elevated, seaside escape. Chestnut siding on the dwelling’s façade complements the wood-panelled north-facing deck. Stroll to the café across the street in the morning to pick up a flat white and avocado toast—two local delicacies. Towering ceilings create a lofty ambiance with an abundance of daylight. A clean colour palette exudes modern minimalism. The interior living spaces seamlessly connect through an open-concept plan, while fully retractable doors open onto the terrace, establishing an effortless harmony between them both. Potted plants punctuate various areas of each room, bringing the outdoors in. Glossy gunmetal floors flow beneath an array of slate-hued furnishings for a contemporary aesthetic. At the side of the patio, fragrant flowers and mini tropical palms flourish in a small, landscaped garden. A glass partition separates the loggia from the edge of the pool, allowing an unobstructed view. Swim a few laps in the cerulean water before warming up in the steamy hot tub. When the stars illuminate the night sky, pop open a bottle of chilled champagne and gaze up at the glittering galaxies while laying back in the sunken lounge. Inside, plump sofas provide ample space for the whole crew to gather around and watch a movie or simply converse about the day’s excursions. An easy walk into town, you can peruse surf-inspired boutiques, vibrant pubs, and a string of savory restaurants.  Copyright © Luxury Retreats. All rights reserved. All about Australia

Enjoy Natural Wonders with an Australian Vacation

Endowed with countless natural wonders, unique wildlife, breathtaking beaches, cosmopolitan cities, and wide expanses of outback, Australia is sure to take your breath away. If you’re basing yourself in glamorous Sydney, you might be keen to explore the beautiful wilderness on your doorstep and escape for the day to one of New South Wales’ (NSW) most attractive pockets.

Day trips from Sydney

From the whitest shores in the world to ancient Aboriginal rock engravings, and exquisite wine tours in Australia's oldest vineyards, NSW begs for a road trip (or two). Ready for some unspoiled beauty?

Invigorate Your Senses at the Blue Mountains

With its crisp mountain air, glorious canyon hikes, and hidden waterfalls, Blue Mountain National Park is a natural oasis that’s only a 90-minute drive from Sydney. Once there, you’ll notice the azure-colored haze that gives these mountain ranges their name. The reason? The area is packed with eucalyptus trees, which emit a fragrant oil. When mixed with the water vapor and dust, the oil creates a mesmerizing blue aura.

Whether you hop on a glass-bottomed cable car to catch panoramic views of Katoomba Falls, ride the world’s steepest funicular down to the Jamieson Valley, or venture into the magical Jenolan Caves, this gorgeous site will satisfy your craving for adventure.

Savor Exquisite Vintages in Hunter Valley

Did you know that NSW is home to the oldest wine region in all of Australia? Only two hours from Sydney, Hunter Valley is a wine aficionados haven, producing rare vintages and the finest Sémillon and Shiraz you can get your hands on. Because the entire region is brimming with grape vines, you’ll be spoiled for options.

Discover Australia’s Green Countryside in Kangaroo Valley and Berry

Boasting some of the greenest pastures in NSW, the charmingly named Kangaroo Valley is surrounded by farmland, a balmy rainforest, and wild fauna. The region invites you to bask in the quiet serenity of its verdant surroundings, populated by wombats, wild platypus, and the expected roos. To explore, rent a bicycle and venture along the paths towards the valley’s main village. Craving a little something sweet? Many locals are proud to call the Kangaroo Valley Pie Shop the home of the best pies in Australia! If you’re eager to taste them for yourself, make sure to arrive early before the freshly made treats sell out for the day.

Combine your trip to the valley with a stop in Berry, a charming historic village in Australia’s southern highlands. The town will afford you the chance to enjoy nostalgic pleasantries such as horseback riding and market shopping, as well as opportunities to brush up on the arts with a visit to the Berry Museum. The village’s biggest claim to fame goes to its donut van, opened over 55 years ago. Visit this tasty institution for freshly fried indulgences rolled in cinnamon sugar.

Traipse Through Snowy-White Sands in Jervis Bay

While there’s no denying that Sydney has some pretty spectacular beaches, finding a strip of sand to yourself can be a challenge. If you’re willing to go that extra mile (trust us, it’s worth it) you might be lucky enough to sprawl out some secluded shores.

Follow the coast three hours south to discover Jervis Bay, home to Hyames Beach, the record holder of the world’s whitest shores. And with the idyllic Booderee National Park just behind, the area is paradise on earth for nature lovers. After you’ve waded in the turquoise waters and snorkeled above the marine life, head into the nearby town of Huskisson to experience its emerging foodie scene centered around local produce and fresh fish.

Dive Into History and Saltwater Pools at the Royal National Park

A mere hour from Sydney lies a national park so stunning that it was blessed by the Queen herself. With its Aboriginal rock engravings dating back to over 1000 years, the National Royal Park is the second oldest park of its kind in the world. Inland from its 20 gorgeous mile stretch of beaches you'll find subtropical forests, deep river valleys, and thrilling plateaus worthy of a hike. Make sure to bring your walking shoes — this natural wonder is best explored by foot!

If you visit anytime from May to November, you just might be lucky enough to spot a family of humpback whales. What’s more? The beaches here are deliciously secluded, so you can finally experience that “deserted shore” fantasy.
