U.S. Booking Credit Program Terms and Conditions

These Booking Credit Terms and Conditions (“Booking Credit Terms”) govern your use of Airbnb Booking Credit (“Booking Credit”) on the Airbnb Platform. Your use of Booking Credit and the services available via the Airbnb Platform shall be subject to Airbnb’s Terms of Service (“Terms”) and Payment Terms of Service (collectively, the “Airbnb Terms”); if you see an undefined term in these Booking Credit Terms, it has the same definition as in the Airbnb Terms. To the extent that these Booking Credit Terms conflict with the Airbnb Terms, the provisions of the Airbnb Terms shall apply.

Overview

Upon cancellation of certain eligible reservations, Airbnb is providing Guests the opportunity to opt-in to receive Booking Credit as an alternative to a cash refund. Booking Credit does not expire and can be applied to future bookings on the Airbnb Platform.

Important Definitions

“Qualifying Cancellation” means a booking cancellation initiated by a Guest residing in the United States for a stay that is eligible for Booking Credit. The following bookings are expressly excluded: (i) bookings that have already begun; (ii) bookings that were previously canceled; (iii) Luxe bookings or any bookings made on Luxury Retreats; and (iv) Experience bookings.

“Booking Credit” is store credit provided in lieu of cash upon a Qualifying Cancellation. Booking Credit: (i) is non-refundable and non-transferable; (ii) is not cash, currency or a gift card product; and (iii) cannot be redeemed for cash except where required by law. You may not purchase or sell Booking Credit and Airbnb does not sell Booking Credit.

How it Works

When you initiate a Qualifying Cancellation, Airbnb may provide you the option of receiving either a cash refund or an equivalent amount in Booking Credit. If you elect to receive Booking Credit for that cancellation, the refund value will be added to your Airbnb account as Booking Credit. Booking Credit can only be redeemed through the Airbnb Platform. Booking Credit may be applied during checkout and will reduce the cost of that booking by the applied amount. You are not required to apply the Booking Credit to your next booking and may elect to apply it to a later booking. If less than the total available balance of your Booking Credit is applied to a booking, the unused balance will remain in your Airbnb account.

No fees of any kind apply to Booking Credit, and Booking Credit balances do not expire but may be subject to applicable unclaimed property laws.

Limitations

Booking Credit may not be applied towards charges for changes to existing reservations or be used to purchase Gift Cards. Booking Credit cannot be reloaded, resold, transferred for value or redeemed for cash, except to the extent required by law. Once a Booking Credit is claimed to an Airbnb account, its value cannot be transferred to another person or Airbnb account; a Booking Credit balance on an Airbnb account may not be cashed out or transferred to another Airbnb account.

General Terms

If you apply the Booking Credit to a booking that is later cancelled, you will be refunded based on the Host’s cancellation policy for both: (i) any amount paid with your Payment Method (e.g., your credit or debit card), and (ii) any amount paid using Booking Credit, which will then be available for future use.

If for any reason you believe that there is a discrepancy regarding your Booking Credit, please contact us. Airbnb may require you to submit additional information in order to make a determination regarding your Booking Credit.

The value of your Booking Credit will never change, but the types of products and services that the Airbnb platform offers and that you may apply Booking Credit to, may change over time.

Booking Credit is issued by Airbnb Payments, Inc. When you receive or redeem Booking Credit, you agree that the laws of the State of California, without regard to principles of conflict of laws, will govern these Booking Credit Terms.

You understand and agree that you are solely responsible for determining for your jurisdiction (i) the applicable tax reporting requirements, and (ii) the taxes that should be paid in connection with the Booking Credit. Where applicable, Airbnb may be required to account for VAT on any services for which the Booking Credit is redeemed. In no event will Airbnb be liable for any special, incidental, punitive, exemplary or consequential damages of any kind even if we have been informed in advance of the possibility of such damages. In no event will Airbnb’s aggregate liability to you in connection with the Booking Credit exceed the amount of the Booking Credit.

Airbnb reserves the right to modify these Booking Credit Terms at any time in accordance with this provision. If we make changes to these terms, we will post the revised terms on the Airbnb Platform. We will also provide you with notice of material modifications by email at least thirty (30) days before the date they become effective. Use of any Booking Credit after any modification shall constitute consent to such modification.

Your Waiver and Release

By electing to receive the Booking Credit, you are agreeing that Booking Credit is in lieu of any cash refund you might be entitled to receive in connection with making the Qualifying Cancellation—whether under the Listing cancellation policy, our extenuating circumstances policy, the Airbnb Terms, any other Airbnb policy, or applicable law. By electing to receive the Booking Credit or by using the Booking Credit you are agreeing to these Booking Credit Terms.

You release Airbnb and the Host from any and all claims and liabilities, without limitation, relating to the Qualifying Cancellation, and/or any refund or compensation you might be entitled to in relation to the Qualifying Cancellation.

Chargebacks and Fraud

If you initiate a chargeback with your bank or credit card company (also known as a “charge dispute” or “reversal”) for the return of funds charged for a Qualifying Cancellation, you will not be eligible for Booking Credit for such cancellation. Airbnb reserves the right to refuse, void, cancel, reject or hold for review your Booking Credit, if it believes that you initiated a chargeback for the Qualifying Cancellation and elected to receive Booking Credit despite the chargeback, or in any other event of suspected fraud. We will have the right to close a Member’s account and charge alternative Payment Methods if a fraudulently claimed Booking Credit is redeemed and/or used to make purchases on the Airbnb Platform.

Disputes

Any dispute or claim relating in any way to Booking Credit will be resolved in accordance with the Governing Law and Dispute Resolution section of the Airbnb Terms.
