A world of peace and serenity. The Ohana is the entire ground floor. Walk down the street to enter Kealakekua Bay (aka Dolphin Bay) to see humpbacks, swim with dolphins in the nourishing crystalline blue water. Or walk 5 minutes other direction and snorkel at Manini beach park. Sleep to the lullaby of ocean waves. Watch the sunset from the hammock on the patio or lanai. Two other beloved swim spots: Honaunau National Park & Ho'okena are 10 to 20 minutes drive. I added a patio for you in 2022.

The space
Ideal LOCATION if you love water, swimming, snorkeling, and seeing dolphins and whales. You can walk across the street or five minutes walk from my house will take you to Kealakekua Bay main bay, Manini beach, or the Napo'opo'o pier. All are great swim spots depending on your taste. The Spinner dolphins frequently show up at Kealakekua Bay. My house is located in Napo'opo'o or Manini Village, a small community of houses where many locals live. For rent is a completely separate one bedroom apartment on the GROUND FLOOR of my 3-story house. I live on the upper floors with my boy-cat, Om. The Ohana has about 600 square feet (60 sq. meters) and consists of a spacious living/dining area (20'x24') with a kitchenette, and a separate bedroom (12x12 ft). The bathroom is accessible from the living area and bedroom. Please see a photo of the floor plan. My home is "second-row ocean", i.e. there is only one house between me and the ocean. There is a ceiling fan in the living room & bedroom, and a tower fan in all other rooms. The space is cool year-round. The abundant ocean breeze makes air-conditioning unnecessary. 48" Roku TV. New wood/laminate flooring in July 2021.
The bedroom has a high-quality Queen size bed, 100% cotton bedding, and an adjoining bathroom with a shower and tub. The living space has two comfortable and solid futons that easily pull out into full size (54" wide) beds. I can also bring a Queen size Airbed. The kitchen has: a Mr. coffee and a French press, coffee grinder, Ninja blender, toaster oven, magnetic cooktop, traditional 2 burner cooktop, microwave oven, 10 cu. ft. refrigerator with freezer, Crock-Pot (Rice cooker available upon request). utensils, dishes, pots and pans. Easy to check yourself in using a digital lock on the front door anytime after 3pm.

Where you’ll be

Captain Cook, Hawaii, United States

Kealakekua Bay is the "cream de la cream" of ocean spot for swim, snorkel, dive or lay back and watch dolphins. Watch them jump and spin while you are in the water is the greatest treat I can think of. If you relax and swim slowly, they might even swim around you. "Ke ala" means the path. "Ke kua" roughly translates to the Gods or the heavens. Hawaiian people consider this a very sacred place! Water is usually clear (you can see the sandy bottom where its over 30 feet deep, calm and full of tropical fishes. You might swim next to a Manta Ray or turtle any day, a feast for the eyes and senses. Note all of the mentioned marine life are daily encounter in any of the bays I mentioned. The house is in a neighborhood known as Napo'opo'l village or Manini village. Very laid back and secluded. I got the feel of a real Hawaii when I first stayed here. It is beyond a dream come true to call this my home since October 2017. Come join me:)

I love swimming with dolphins. The crystalline blue water is made more magical when the Spinner dolphins come in to the bays. I will ensure your stay here with me is thoroughly enjoyable. If you like, I'll show you where and how best to swim with my beloved Spinners. I love to travel. I have been to 20+ countries and the money I get from renting part of my home funds more travel. I am a foodie, gourmet cook, and holistic medicine practitioner. I left Hong Kong, my birth place when I was eighteen. Lived on the East coast USA for 43 years. I left Hilton Head in 2017. Now I live on this paradise call the Big Island. It is beyond any dream come true! I live a quiet peaceful life with my boy-cat, Om. I like meeting people (no strangers in my world). I enjoy music, books, movies and learning spirituality. I have a private practice of Energy Medicine and Sound Healing, and work +/-10 hours a week, . I am joyful, loving, fun, neat, clean, kind and considerate. NON-smoker. My joy comes from helping people and making others happy. When I pick a travel destination, the quality of food is a big part of the decision.

During your stay

I'll be happy to answer your questions before your arrival or during your stay. I am a foodie, I can recommend restaurants. My favorite places to eat out or take out is Kona Grill House, a “hole-in-the-wall” place on Haleki'i Drive in Kealakekua, about 20 minutes drive. The freshest fish grilled or poke, burgers...and the price is good. This is a place where the locals go. Going a little further on the highway, Rebel Kitchen is excellent food of many variety with slightly higher price. Almost all the places around Captain Cook are owner operated with good cooking. Just ask me. Other places: Strawberry Patch and Keei Cafe, both good food $$$, are also on Mamalahoa Highway. GPS will direct you there:) NOTE: I offer a monthly group Gong Bath (aka Gong Meditation) in my living room on either Sat. or Sunday afternoon. and you're welcome to join ($20). The Big Island is a beautiful diverse place with so much to offer. Many of my guests had visited Volcano State Park as a day trip. Read the guide book, "The Big Island Revealed" prior to arriving. If not, I have a copy in the Ohana.
