Queer friendly. Charming historic 1914 brick carriage house, in a small residential neighborhood of Detroit! Get a taste of the Tiny House life; self contained just for you. Completely remodeled in 2019 but true to the original character: original enamel sink, hardware and push button switches, clawfoot tub/shower, 1900s brass bed -- but w modern comforts (fast charging USB outlets, efficient retro blue fridge, endless on demand hot water, and high efficiency minisplit AC!). Electric fireplace.

The space
Up one flight of stairs. Private entrance. This is a private tiny house/apartment unit in the carriage house/garage area at the back of a historic home on a fenced property. You will have the Carriage House unit entirely to yourself during your stay. Driveway and courtyard/backyard are shared areas.

Your parking is FREE and very available on the residential street in front of the main house.

Where you’ll be

Highland Park, Michigan, United States

This house is in the Highland Park Historic District, a charming residential neighborhood known as the "City of Trees" just north of Midtown and Wayne State and Hospital Campuses, between the larger Boston Edison and Virginia Park Historic Districts.

This is a historically (and currently) black working class family neighborhood; it's great, we love living here, the neighbors are really friendly. We expect guests to maintain great relationships with the neighbors and passerby! Please be sure you are excited to live in a neighborhood with black and diverse folks before booking.

I'm a queer radical activist and artist living in Detroit (in the Historic District of Highland Park!). I've lived in the Detroit area my whole life, so I'm an expert. Especially on weird stuff and local subcultures, art, and events. As well as places to eat!
