Need a secluded getaway? Our off-grid cabin is on approximately 10 acres of private woods. As you turn off the main road into our cabin's driveway, you will begin to understand why this is our hidden gem. Enjoy the coziness of a wood-stove in the winter or a crackling fire in seclusion in the summer- this little getaway cabin is sure to create fond memories. Maybe you will hear the horned owl at night or see an eagle while you kayak. Your adventure or a peaceful vacation awaits.

The space
The cabin has a queen bed in the loft and two cots that can accommodate more guests. Guests must be able to climb a wooden log ladder.

The kitchen has a two burner stove and oven that can hold a 9x13 pan. Although we do not have running water, we do have a hand washing sink as well as a sink for washing dishes. We also provide you with plenty of water for your stay for washing and drinking. As it is well water, you may want to take your own drinking water, if you prefer. We also have dishes, utensils, hot dog sticks, fry pie makers, pots and pans, a tripod grill for over the fire and a small charcoal grill (bring your own charcoal). You will also want to bring a cooler to keep any food cold.

Outside, we have a fire pit, wood to collect or for purchase and a hammock to fully enjoy your stay. Our bathroom is an outhouse and has been described as the “cleanest outhouse in Michigan.” Our latest addition is a seasonal rustic outdoor shower! We provide water which is heated by solar power (or you can heat some on the stove to hurry the process!) The shower is seasonal - only available from May-September.

Within 1/4 mile is the St. Joe River which is a great place for kayaking. We also have kayaksand quads for rent. We also have some short trails on the property and a rail road bed adjacent to the cabin area.

Our cabin is powered by a small and very quiet Honda generator. It is super easy to start. The cabin’s main source of heat is a wood stove with wood we provide. An air conditioner is provided for the summer.

More than two people will be an additional $10 per night per person.

No animals of any kind are to be at our cabin site or allowed inside.

There is to be NO hunting at ANY time on our property.

As winter 2021 approaches we are delighted to find that the standing water within yards of the cabin will make a delightful skating rink. At 6" deep it is not dangerous at all but as weather allows, can be used for ice skating. So, take your ice skates if you have them - a few pairs will be here to be shared as well. It is at your own risk and we are not liable for accidents.
