Pirin Mountain rises between the deep valleys of the Struma and Mesta rivers. It is the second highest mountain in Bulgaria. The larger part of the territory of Pirin was declared as National Park. In 1983 it was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. This land of giants, with more than 100 peaks surpassing 2000m in height, is greatly admired by hikers. Pirin is probably the most beautiful Bulgarian mountain.

Sightseeing

The present exhibition in the museum is rather interesting, because it consists of three parts. The first is a room where 40 visitors can watch a biographical movie for Vaptsarov. The second one is an authentic ethnographic exhibition and third focuses on Vaptsarov’s writings. We strongly recommend you to watch the short movie ‘Magic of Bansko’ in order to indulge in the atmosphere in the museum.

One of the symbols of Bansko. A beautiful old and original church and the massive stork nest in the belfry with a bell that is not automated like most these days. Close to one of the village museums.
