Kuranda is a mountain village well worth a visit. Take the Skyrail Cableway up to Kuranda and the scenic railway back down. Situated in the rugged Barron Gorge National Park, the imposing Barron Falls tumble over craggy rocks into the Barron River. While there you can visit the heritage markets, take in the views or enjoy the many restaurants and cafes available to you in Kuranda Village. The Australian Butterfly Sanctuary is a butterfly zoo and exhibit situated in the centre of Kuranda.
