The Market Hall in Carlisle is a grade 2 listed building, and the site has been in use as a market since 1799 when it was a butchers’ market. It now has a variety of street food stall, from Eastern Med, Greek wraps to Thai.
My regular dish was prawn noodles. Now my favourites include prawn pa nang, vegetarian jungle curry and prawn pad Thai. If you do go to the cafe on Saturday, make sure you are ahead of the Chinese Students from the local school, who order two dishes each, resulting in an up to an hour’s wait for your lunch.

Rickerby Park was previously privately owned. It was dedicated to the fallen in the 1st World War, the memorial cenotaph sits in the middle of the park. The park is bound on the one side by the River Eden and sits alongside the Hadrian's Wall path. A great place to wander and escape from the bustle of every day life. There is some car parking.
