Parks & Nature

Many great short and long hikes. Tons of arches created by wind and erosion over thousands of years. My favorite time to visit is sunrise or sunset. Be sure to carry plenty of water, sunscreen and hat. Keep your cell phone on airplane mode in case it is need for an emergency, yours or someone else.

Be sure to visit Canyonlands National Park, either Island in the Sky or the Needles District. If you are short on time Island in the Sky is north of town just past the Dead Horse Point State Park turn off. Plenty of beautiful vistas and short hikes. If you are fortunate enough to experience a rainy day in the desert, look for the scenery to offer dramatic skies, waterfalls and potential flash floods. The Needles is south of Moab offering longer hikes. Ideal for backpacking in the spring or fall, permits required.
