Great for a stop for lunch on the way down. Beautiful Fern house restaurant and a more casual food place with a big selection of food for adults and kids. Excellent garden centre and food hall also with sushi, artisan butcher, deli, wines. Some lovely bits for home furnishings, clothes cosmetics and other high end products.

Excellent reviews, about a 20/25 min drive from the house this is a well known eatery beside Huntington Castle in Carlow. I haven't managed to get a booking yet but worth trying, check the website for opening hours. Bunclody is a lovely town nearby also.
