This is the former showpiece home of a founding business magnate whose family had lasting influence on Vancouver Island. It's a wonderful museum with guided audio tours and very well informed volunteers. Small, as museums go, but worth a couple of hours.

A nighttime walking tour of ghostly and haunted spots in historic downtown Victoria, this is a fun thing to do. Go for drinks at one of the many pubs and restaurants on Government Street.

Food Scene
It's at the top of a very tall hotel, the Chateau Victoria, and has a 360 degree view of Victoria. The restaurant is very nice and they have a jazz bar with live musicians in a very intimate setting. Cocktails are good. If cocktails are your thing, Clive's in the same hotel is fabulous.

Avatar Grove is home to one of the oldest old growth cedar trees left on the west coast, saved, amazingly, from the era of ruthless logging. It's a bit of a drive to get there, but if you have a car it's worth it. Take good shoes.
