Food Scene
This is the place to go for classic Toronto eats. Here are some of my favourites (vendors in brackets):
-World famous sandwich: peameal bacon on a bun (Carousel Bakery)
-Parmesan & leek danish (Stonemill Bakehouse)
-More than 20 kinds of mustard - and they let you try samples! (Kozlik's. You're more than welcome to try the many jars of it in our fridge, too!)
-Cheese from all over the world - and they let you try samples! (Olympic Cheese Mart)
IMPORTANT NOTES:
-Best time to go: Saturday morning (Full hours here: http://www.stlawrencemarket.com/pages/hours_parking/)

The best bang for your buck in my neighbourhood! For less than $5, you get a giant ice cream cone that even the biggest ice-cream lovers will have trouble finishing. There are at least 30 flavours on the menu. It's a short walk from my house and worth the wait if there's a long line.
NOTE: The store only accepts cash

if you're in the west end, this is a great place to try - especially if you're someone who appreciates a good cup of coffee. (We also have beans in our cupboard. Feel free to try it!) The best part about the shop, though, is their delicious pastries. You'll smell them as soon as you walk in.

This coffee shop has trendy drinks created in-house. They also have sandwiches (one of my friends says their egg salad, which has cumin, is the best they've ever had). And their peanut butter cookies are to die for.

Drinks & Nightlife
Brickworks is a local cider brewery here in Toronto. You can find their products in many bars around the city and on the shelves at the LCBO (liquor stores). However, this is the best spot to try their cider: it's their very own bar and they serve new flavours you can't get anywhere else! I'd highly recommend getting a flight (choose four flavours. Served in 5 ounce glasses for $16). I've never had their food but have heard good things about the menu!
