Founded in 1978 in efforts to save some of the region that was being replaced by the Guapiles Highway, Braulio Carrillo is actually one of the most easily accessible parks in Costa Rica. The park features several dormant volcanoes and protected regions of the Sarapiqui River. This biodiversity lends to the abundance of species that populate the park.
