Uprise is so much more than just a bakery. The baked goods are definitely yummy - my favorites are the sourdough bread and the focaccia (it's almost like a mini deep dish pizza and a meal unto itself). Their salads are my favorite in town. They make a great cheese and marinara dish. Their soups tend to be delicious. But then there is the general atmosphere - which is lovely. And the bar scene - maybe the best in come and where I met my husband. So, suffice to say this place holds a special place in my heart. Oh yeah, it houses the awesome ragtag cinema (home of the true/false film festival) and is right next door to the rad Hitt Records.

Broadway Brewery is a brewery but their food is the real star. Try the meatloaf - I'm not a fan of meatloaf and when I tried it I became a convert. They have a great Sunday brunch, too, and make a great Bloody Mary.

We love yellow dog bookshop. Can't leave without buying SOMETHING. They have unique cards, notebooks, postcards, etc in addition to all the books. Great place to take the kids as the children's area is top notch. Also, the staff is very knowledgable and can help find books.
