Repeating what I said about Foster Island:
You can take a quick trip on the Light Rail up to UW station and then backtrack across the University bridge and pick up the trail (down steps that are just past the bridge) through Foster Island and into the Arboretum. Highly recommended - great nature and water and feels like you aren't in a city. Wear shoes you are OK with getting muddy!
