Museum, tea room and gift shop with no entry fee and community driven. The S.S. Atlantic sank off the coast in 1873 and was owned by the same company as the Titanic -- the White Star Line. There is a short trail down to the mass burial site from the museum building and it is a beautiful area to explore in its own right. Off the beaten path, so you aren't likely to find any bus tours there. Check out Sandy Cove Beach while you're there.

You simply HAVE to meet Ivan Fraser. He's a one of a kind artist, story-teller, and author who has opened his family home as a museum/gallery. Here's where you can hear the story of Peggy of the Cove and her friends. Take a hike up the trail above the house for some incredible views of St. Margaret's Bay. Closed on Saturdays.

Sightseeing
Try to go early to beat the crowds. Otherwise your picture of the iconic Peggys Point Lighthouse will have people in the background. The village of Peggys Cove is a good place for a walkabout with several gift shops and restaurants. It is very touristy; especially when the cruise ships are in port.
