Keys is a hot-spot for breakfast and lunch. Their food is good and they’ve been famous for a long time. Known for their incredible desserts/cakes/pies. Soups are also good and the will do take out.

White Bear Lake is historic. Lots of cute shops, bars, restaurants, fun to bum around. Park on Fourth street or in the lot behind Banning Avenue and stroll around. There’s also a gorgeous Lake walk... find your way over to Lake Avenue and enjoy the the pedestrian/bike path. A local can point you in the right direction— everyone’s nice here (you’re in Minnesota!)

Essentials

This is a nice little market, fireplace, right on the west shore of White Bear Lake. It’s a fun little place in the summer, especially, but you’ll find everything that you need in a gorgeous little grocery... all the lake people go there! It’s about 5 miles from the house.

Cub’s large and only 3 miles from the house (on the same road as the house- so very easy). You’ll find everything including liquor there. The prices are moderate and so is the atmosphere. (Not as much fun as Kowalskis’) But plenty adequate.

Everything Else

Stillwater is Minnesota’s oldest lumber town. It’s in the gorgeous St. Croix River Valley. It’s tourist Mecca all year round. Go downtown to the (old downtown, not the modern southern end)... eat, drink, shop, stroll (briskly in the winter ;) among old limestone buildings, great antiquing, often live music around and lots of restaurants.
