Parks & Nature
Our favorite place in Arkansas is Petit Jean State Park. It's a little more than a hour away, but it's worth the drive. It has a big canyon (for Arkansas standards), and a waterfall. This is a good time of year to go because the waterfall should be rolling. There's about 15 total miles of trails of varying lengths.

Close to Little Rock is Pinnacle Mountain. It's about a 700' tall mountain with nice views of Lake Maumelle and surrounding area. The east side is very steep and involves scrambling up boulders, and the west side is much easier. I like to go up the east side, down the west side, and then turn left and take the trail around the base.

If you bring your bikes, the Arkansas River Trail makes about a 14 mile loop from downtown to the "Big Dam Bridge" and back on either side of the river.

If you're up for a drive, I highly recommend the Buffalo National River area. The west (upper river) side near Ponca is a great place for watching Elk in the evenings right by the highway. There are also nice views and trails all up the down the river. Let me know if you need some more information on it, or you can try the visitor's center off Highway 65.
