Neighborhoods
Vesturbær is one of the old districts in Reykjavik and boasts a long and remarkable history. In the south, Vesturbær lies at Skerjafjörður and Kollafjörður in the north. It lies to Seltjarnarnes in the west but to the city center in the east and the neighborhood is in many ways very much connected to the city center.
There is considerable business activity in the neighborhood, especially at the harbor and in Örfirisey, as the neighborhood is closely linked to the sea, and there can be found many relics of a company earlier in the centuries.
The proximity to the sea, the Ægissíðan and Eiðisgrandi is one of the neighborhood's most important features and the city's most varied walking path is precisely on the Ægissíðan, as the view is beautiful. Don't forget the hugely popular Vesturbæjarlaug, the local cafe, Kaffi Vest, Fisherman, where you can get great fish burger and many more

Ægissíða
Just about 4km walk along the sea you will come to man made geothermal beach. Try out dipping your toe in the sea and go in the hot tub afterwards.
Something we the family often do.
