Drive up Lookout Mountain (the drive is worth the trip alone) to Windy Saddle Park. There are ~8 parking spots. Stop, eat lunch at one of the picnic tables and then walk about 30 minutes out for a fantastic view of the front range, then head straight back (not a loop). The hike is not entirely flat and may require navigating rocks, etc. Use the app "All Trails" for a map on your smartphone.

Fantastic, twisty, winding drive that overlooks Golden and some of Denver. Go to the type to see Wild Bill's grave - the legendary wild west gun fighter.

Pro tip: "Buffalo" are in Africa and "Bison" are in America. Get it right! Stop here in the afternoon to check out the huge herd of Bison. The park service usually lays out edible hay for the herd in the afternoon. This also has a great walking trail.

Wanna see one of America's last, perpetual glaciers? Bring $5 CASH with you for parking, take a 20-minute hike *uphill* to the glacier's lake and take a walk around petrified forest. It's a beautiful space. Bring water!

GORGEOUS plateau that overlooks Denver and Golden. Getting to the top is not for the faint of heart. It's a 200-ft hike to the top, but once you're up you can walk the 7 mile loop around the top of the plateau. Perfect place to get a run in that's less than 30 minutes away from Denver.

Want to reach 14,000 feet? Want to eat a mountain-made donut? Pike's peak is for you. Unparalleled views from a car. However... lots of people visit. I highly recommend visiting Mount Evans instead (if the road isn't closed due to snow).

Driving on State Road 6 is one of my favorite things. This twisty highway will bring you through stunning red rock canyons. You'll see rock climbers stopped along the road and fly fishers along the river.
