Zippel Bay has a nice beach with a grilling/covered picnic area. There is also a really nice boat ramp. Blueberry picking is pretty good here along the trail to the boat ramp. you need a state park pass on your vehicle, or you can purchase a one day pass at the entrance. Bring bug spray!

Hays is kind of a drive, about 50 minutes, but they have kayaks and canoes to rent and it's very pretty. Bring bug spray!

If you are driving up from the cities this is a fun stop on the bog road, hwy 72. You do need a state park sticker. There are two recreational areas, the boardwalk is the furthest north. They have a long boardwalk around a lake and the scenery is very pretty in the fall. Bugs are bad in the summer.

This little wayside rest is about 25 minutes east of us. In the spring sturgeon and suckers run the rapids to spawn and it's really neat to see. The pelicans also gather here. It is a very nice place to picnic.

Willie is a local landmark, lots of people stop and take a picture with him! There is also a fun little sledding hill here for the kids, and it's the best place to watch fireworks on the Fourth of July.

A Mom and Pop grocery store in Roosevelt, about 6 miles away. They grind their own hamburger and it's excellent. On weekends they sometimes have Bacon burger, which is bacon ground with the meat and it makes amazing burgers on the grill.
