My favourite restaurants
Cape Town has an amazing diversity of cuisines at great prices. Sometimes it's Africa Time for a dish or two, but generally all the hospitality staff in the Cape is friendly and put much care into their service.
There are soooo many lovely coffee shops that I could recommend and restaurants are all quite amazing, even the more touristic ones.
Originally a small neighbourhood got together in Oranjeicht to farm a garden following permaculture and community principles. It grew so big that it moved to the Waterfront.
markets are a great way to get to know Cape Town food and culture.

It's got a better setting than other restaurants at the Waterfront and it's home brewed Den Anker beer is delicious.

It has become very busy nowadays but still worth a visit.
When I used to go, my daughter would picnic and play in the sand and there were only 4 tables outside. Imagine!

Quite nice if the weather is bad. Classical stuffed animals but also some interesting testimonies to South African cultures.
The Planetarium shows films every day. Check the programme online.

One of the best "topless" busses worldwide. It gets you places without organising so many taxis and with a simple audio commentary. But taxi and uber drivers are also lovely to chat to!

A big favourite! We love all of it. The location, the old trees, the new reproduction of the original vegetable gardens, the National Art Gallery, the squirrels of course (there is one albino squirrel if still around!), the Café with its weaver's nests...
