Restaurants
One of the best restaurants in the city in many dimensions: the food, the service, the location. Unassuming from the outside in a retail location covered with graffiti, it houses amazing Japanese food with excellent fish, brought to you by Berlin's Vietnamese chef-legend Duc Ngo. Usually you have to book a few weeks in advance to get a table, but there's often a chance to sneak in if some patrons bailed. It's a little on the pricey side as well, but well worth it.

Hands down the best pizza in town just a few subway stops from our flat in Berlin's neighborhood by the name of Wedding (yep, nothing to do with marriage, just the name of this district of the city). Traditionally a working-class-neighborhood and a central home for Berlin's Turkish population, this restaurant is one of the examples of gentrification with students and hipsters moving in.

Great food in a stylish setting not far from our flat. It has a nice outside-seating-area as well. Some trivia: it's also the place Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington Instagramed the business card from one month before he committed suicide, which sent fans in a frenzy what the words "heimlichTreu" might mean. https://www.instagram.com/p/BV0QOXDDARi/ Actually, no hidden message, just the name of the place (in English it means "secretlyFaithful").

Amazing Italian food in a really special location. It's a fantastic 5 course set dinner including wine for €65,- per person. You can eat cheaper in Berlin, but given the quality of the food far off your standard Italian restaurant and the whole experience, it's well worth it. Book a table in advance and talk to the owner Andreas.

Great bar with excellent drinks in the buzzing neighborhood of Neukölln. This Berlin district used to be very working class and is inhabited by Berlin's Turkish population. This private members club sports one of the best root-top patios, along with a pool overlooking the city. While only members are permitted to visit the rooftop, you can book a table for lunch or dinner even without being a member and this way sneak into this place anyway. Don't put your expectations on the food too high though, and the service is phenomenally slow and disorganized... It's also rather in the pricy side, but the rooftop and the interior of this art-deco-building with a rich history is worth it.

Great rooftop overlooking the city built on top of this shopping center's parking. It's located in Berlin's district of Neukölln, which until gentrification came into full effect, used to be (and still is in many places) a working class neighborhood with a large Turkish population.
