Cafe 615 is less than a 10 minute ride away from the Point but it's a great destination if you want to eat traditional New Orleans food. It's definitely not a touristy location, but you won't be disappointed with the large portions of deliciousness. Favorites include seafood platters, fried chicken, eggplant and seafood casserole, and shrimp etouffee. The dishes can be a bit on the salty side though.

It's off the beaten path, but if you'd like something different with a Caribbean flare, their jerk chicken is great.

This is the go-to spot for locals and tourists alike for beignets, which are fried pieces of dough topped with powdered sugar. Paired with their signature chicory cafe au lait, what’s not to love?! It’s opened 24/7 which is nice for those midnight snacks!

Our little neighborhood market carries basic staples as well as some specialty food items and wine. They have easy-to-prepare standard frozen food items too. Call in advance if you’re looking for something in particular since they’re not as completely stocked like a regular grocery store. A newly added deli with great sandwiches and a snowball counter make it hard for us to ever leave this 4 block radius.

This is a higher end restaurant run by a Top Chef finalist. The food is great but we love the oyster bar and the way the chef treats vegetables as more than just a side dish. Great ambience too because it’s not too stuffy. Also, it within walking distance if you take the ferry!!

Barracuda is definitely a local favorite! Wait for your queso and chips and tacos while sipping a margarita. They have a great happy hour too. And if you have small kids, you can even get your drinks and food to-go and dine in the playground across the street. Yes, you can drink alcohol responsibly even in playgrounds : )
Their salsa macha is super spicy so ask to omit it from your tacos if you don’t enjoy your tongue on fire. . .

This is a local favorite! The carousel bar slowly revolves around the room and before you know it, you’re looking at a different part of the room. It’s hard to explain why we find it so charming (maybe just plain good memories). The carousel bar itself is good for couples but there’s also an adjacent lounge if you’re in a group. There’s live jazz music usually on Wednesday’s through Sunday’s.
