Experiences

The famous hot springs a short hour and a half drive away. Perfect for cold winters but also a very relaxing summer dip. It is definitely a day trip, so don't make any other plans the same day.

Can be busy during the winter, but Santa is there all year long! In December there is a beautiful ice museum that is a 100% must if you're in the area at the time.

During the summer, Denali is open with tons of Alaskan gift shops and fun food stops. There is a white water rafting expedition through the Nenana River. There is also a train that runs about 2 1/2 hours from Fairbanks to Denali for the day, and I would recommend that day trip. The town closes up in the winter, along with all the shops, but the mountain is always open for sightseeing.

The knotty shop is open in the summer just 3 minutes from the house. The best souvenirs are available with fabulous Alaskan flair. There are Alaskan furs and even spices and flavors to try. They have these beautiful animal sculptures made from the famous knotty wood that is fun to take pictures with. Also, my family loves to stop by for their handmade ice cream. Make sure to give them a call before you swing by to make sure they're open!

Sightseeing

This is the tallest mountain in North America! It's a few hours drive south towards Anchorage, so a full day trip, but worth it. There is also a hike towards another sightseeing spot if interested.

Beautiful area in which wildlife love to roam. Perfect spot to take your camera. In the summer, take some fishing gear out and catch the trout swimming out there. Just a few miles towards North Pole.
