Kerr Dam in Polson is a concrete arch-type dam which stands at 204 feet high, which is 54 feet higher than Niagara Falls. A 1,000 foot boardwalk takes you down, right above the falls, where you can enjoy an amazing view of the canyon! In the spring and early summer, the spillway is fantastic. Is the first tribally owned major hydropower facility.

One of the cleanest lakes in the world, Flathead is great for swimming, fishing and water sports. Public swimming beaches can be found in Polson as are boats for charter and rental.
**Be aware that in late summer when the water warms up, in places where the water is still, lives a little bug that causes “Swimmers Itch”. It is mild but unpleasant. Easy to avoid by rinsing off after swimming and changing out of wet bathing suits.

This is a spectacular mountain lake with an excellent hiking trail on the north side that takes you to the end of the lake where an enchanting cedar forest awaits. No motors are allowed but non-motorized water sports are delightful on this chilly, glacial melt reservoir.
**Remember to get your tribal conservation permit before going. No recreational allowed without a permit on tribal lands.
**The hiking trail is often closed in the summer because this is The Grizzly Bear Protection Area and they are very active when the cutworms hatch. Never hike in Grizzly country without bear spray handy and do not enter closed areas. They will be well signposted. Be bear aware.
