Campus!
Campus!
Campus is centered on two large “ovals”. The Parrington Oval (North Oval) is anchored on the south by Evans Hall, the main administrative building, and on the east by the Oklahoma Memorial Union. The Van Fleet Oval (South Oval) is anchored on the north by the beautiful Bizzell Memorial Library which showcases the famous and historic “Cherokee Gothic” architecture seen throughout campus. The Library is one of four buildings on Campus listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Go inside to view the famous Great Reading Room. Just to the east of the South Oval lies the legendary Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.
Enjoy Art, History, or Athletics?
Located on Campus are museums for all three! The Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art is one of the finest university art museums in the United States and is home to the Weitzenhoffer Collection of Impressionist art. The Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History has almost 50,000 sq ft of exhibit space and is one of the world’s largest university-based natural history museums. It is home to the world’s largest Apatosaurus skeleton as well as the oldest painted object in North America. The Barry Switzer Center is a museum highlighting the historical success of Oklahoma athletics and is located on the south end of Memorial Stadium.
Gardens and Parks
The University prides itself on the aesthetic appeal of Campus. Stroll the beautifully landscaped gardens or relax in one of the many parks.
