My favourite venue in the Whitsundays!!! out of town 10mins drive from this unit. There is also a free shuttle bus (refer to their website or Facebook)
Its a great spot to chill and you get those 'island vibes' without having to catch a boat and it's nice to get off the main street of Airlie too.
They do great food and drinks and Live entertainment Friday nights and also Saturday and Sunday 2-5pm.
I prefer to go in the day for the views and they have day beds!

This is a locals cafe right on Cannonvale beach. Great food and coffee, play space for children, dog friendly. And a great place to start/end the coastal bicentennial walk that follows the beach and goes all the way into town.

Walking
If you like bush walking this walk to Coral Beach will suit most levels of fitness. I even walk this with my children 4& 5 yrs old About 20mins each way.
The drive out to Shute Harbour, where the tracks starts from is nice too. The beach is beautiful and its mostly coral and rock instead of sand. I choose to do all my walking early morning or late arvo in the hotter months. This is a secluded bush walk so do take plenty of water.
There are other fantastic walks in the Whitsundays but they are more challenging (Mt Rooper and Honeyeater)
Coral beach walking track
Another easy walk with great views and its flat so great for all levels. You can start this walk at Cannonvale beach or the lagoon in Airlie.
Being that this ones in town there are places to stop and eat/drink along the way.
Keep your eyes out for turtles.

Whitsunday Sailing Club holds twilight races on most Wednesday
If you are new to Airlie Beach, or would like to join us, learn to sail and meet new people, our boats often have room on board for you to join in. Come down to the club by 3:00pm on Wednesday afternoon, and we will endeavour to get you a ride. Be aware that there are only limited places available.
The Races are generally around a triangle course, with the Multihulls (Div 1) and faster Monohulls (Div 2) sailing three laps then sailing a beat to the finish just beyond the top mark. Smaller or slower monos sail two laps then finish to windward.

Traveler advice
Traveling with kids
Indoor play centre
If you need a break and want to enjoy a drink or meal while your kids play. Try the reef Gateway (across from Baybreeze) it has an air-conditioned play area and you can walk to it from the unit. Its a tavern style.
Getting around
Bus service is easy.
Buses are very easy in Airlie as there is only one main rd that runs through - Shute Harbour Rd. The bus stop is right out the front of the Bay Breeze complex.
Book before you go
Boat trips
Book your boat trips a few days out if you can this way you might have a better chance picking the better weather.
