Scenic walks
This is a great place to take a scenic walk that is located only 3.5 miles from our home. It's dog friendly (although they do request dogs be kept on a leash). It is approximately 1.5 mile loop around a pond with great 360 degree views from the highest point. The trail is very well maintained and there are picnic tables and benches along the way. Open year round but can be muddy at certain times of year - wear boots or shoes that you don't care if they get wet or dirty.

This a wonderful place to walk because it has the added advantage of being a sculpture park. It's dog friendly (but they do request dogs be kept on a leash). Combine a healthy outdoor activity like walking with an aesthetic experience such as viewing art - the best of both worlds. The paths are well marked and it covers many acres - it can take a couple of trips to see everything. It's enjoyable year round and takes on a different character with each season. There is also and indoor gallery, cafe and restrooms. It is one of our favorite places to visit and take guests.

Olana State Historic Site was the home of Frederic Edwin Church (1826–1900), one of the major figures in the Hudson River School of landscape painting. The centerpiece of Olana is an eclectic villa composed of many styles, difficult to categorize, which overlooks parkland and a working farm designed by the artist. The residence has a wide view of the Hudson River valley, the Catskill Mountains and the Taconic Range.
