20 Minutes Away!
The tasting menu is an experience but the downstairs restaurant is great as well. Downstairs the menu is more limited - we tend to go there for drinks and appetizers or dinner when we're not feeling like a big meal. The charm of the Inn is great - it's a fishing lodge.
This is about 25 minutes away. The drive there (if you take Hunters Road and Sundown) is absolutely stunning but try to do it when the sun is setting (which is hard in the winter as that's around 4 pm).

This is the closest restaurant to the house. The food is solid & good, but not blow your mind great. The service can be inconsistent but, overall, really nice folks who run it. It's owned by the same company (Foster Supply) who own the Debruce.

This is a bit of jaunt but my husband and I like to hike Peekamouse Mountain (it's right by the blue hole and the drive is incredible) and then head over to Phoenica Diner for lunch and then do grocery shopping in Woodstock. The food is solid basics but is kind of a Brooklyn scene as of late (which is totally fine by me but some people get annoyed by Brooklyn-ization of upstate).

The setting (especially in the summer) is great. They have limited space in the winter so it pays to call ahead and check. The food can be great, and it can be so-so (you never know what you're going to get!). The drinks menu is good but limited but very little wine selection (which is surprising because they have the best wine store, upstream right across the street).

Good breakfast, great coffee. Also visiting Mountaindale is a must do. Read the NYTimes article about it first (interesting background on its development) https://www.nytimes.com/2018/11/03/style/mountain-dale-new-york.html

DOWNSTAIRS is the more casual option. The bar is great and serves a limited small plates menu. It's lodgey, has a fireplace and great ambiance.

I love this place. The women who own it are amazing sources of knowledge and they have all the natural wines and small producers you can imagine (in addition to some well known favorites). The do tastings often so check out their instagram @drinkingupstream.

Beautiful location and architecture. A handful of beer (last time I went there were 6 selections) and limited menu (larger number of selections start at 4 pm). They have red and white wine but only one of each (it is beer focused, afterall). They have trail behind the brewery that you can hike. In the warmer months they will have a keg at the top of trail for incentive.
