Flowers Foods in synonymous with Thomasville, Georgia. You’ll probably smell something super sweet while you’re shopping downtown: it’s probably the Honey Buns! Visit the Flowers History Museum to learn about the history that is still strong in Thomasville. (Appreciate the bread truck display—this was our aunt’s project and that section was a BEAST to make happen!)

You've seen their cheeses on high end lists for years as well as on the best grocer's shelves. We love to lunch at this great place on Broad Street. The Hanger Steak Salad is our favorite, but you really can't miss out on their pimento cheese! No time to sit? They have a great retail spot just inside as well.

This little spot in the-middle-of-what-seems-like-nowhere, Georgia, is worth the drive. Just half an hour from Wimsam (and a straight shot), the fresh peaches are plucked right from the fields and the homemade peach ice cream is worth every moment. This is a great spot for a weekend drive through beautiful plantation quail country. It’s really just a few minutes from I-75, so if you’re in town during their open season (Spring and Summer only), make Barney your I-75 entrance/exit. They also have a wonderful selection of local produce including blueberries, bicolor corn, tomatoes, melons of all varieties, and more flavors of ice cream and and sno cones. Burton’s is our family’s favorite ice cream stand, but be prepared for a little competition. There’s another competing peach orchard on the opposite corner with ice cream, too!

Looking for the best burgers around? The Rev Cafe is our #1 pick and we especially love to eat on the patio. Order anything with satsuma in it and you’ll get a tasty treat straight from our family’s Florida Georgia Citrus farm right there in Monticello.

Mr. George will probably stop by to say hello while you’re dining. He’s local like that and loves to make sure you’re taken care of and his family and food are authentically) Greek. This spot has been a staple in our dinner schedule since we were kids. Jason grew up with George’s daughters and our kids are both in classes with his grandkids. This shop reminds me of my favorite spot in London, the haberdashery at Liberty. I’m not even into yarn art or sewing, but this shop is cottage core at it’s finest and you’ll be so inspired just strolling through. If you are a knitter, you’ll be one step closer to heaven.

Customs and culture
Hunting is a way of life. Be aware.
Quail hunting is a way of life in Thomasville and Thomas County. Much of the local economy revolves around this sport and the conservation of land and the local bob-white quail population. Be aware that some stores downtown sell guns including handguns, shotguns, and rifles. There are also taxidermy pieces in many locations, so don't be caught off guard when you see an elk or zebra downtown Thomasville.
