Some neighborhoods in Ghent you definitly need to visit!
This neighborhood in Ghent is famous for its small streets and abundance of shops and exquisite restaurants. I would recommend café Rococo, restaurant Karel De Stoute (don't forget to make a reservation!) and tapasbar La Malcontenta!

Traveler advice
Customs and culture
Check opening hours!
In Belgium, the shops are open until 18h. In the weekend you will be able to go to restaurants and coffee bars, but shopping might be difficult. Only every first sunday of the month many shops are open.
Same with supermarkets: these are normaly open until 19h and often closed on sundays.
Getting around
Trams and busses
Public transport in Ghent is good, but Ghent isn't so big so I would recommend walking. You see more of the city when walking!
Book before you go
Just to be sure
When going to a popular bar or restaurant, make a reservation to be sure. That way you won't be dissapointed when there isn't any place.
Don't miss
Van Eyck
2020 is the year our city celebrates painter Van Eyck. Famous for painting 'Adoration of the Mystic Lamb'. There is a exhibition in MSK (Museum of Fine Arts) from Febuary til April, but make sure you buy your tickets in advance! During the rest of the year there are other celebrations to honor Van Eyck, so check in advance if there are special things happening!
