Drinks & Nightlife

Great neighborhood bar that has a beautiful library room and regular "literary cocktail nights". You can grab a book from the library to take home with you, too!

Food Scene

Delicious modern Indian cuisine and exceptional service. It's my go-to spot for special occasions. They will push the fried spinach, which is great, but I love the banana avocado chaat.

Neighborhood pub serving bar food & whiskey in a vintage setting with exposed brick & tin ceilings. Try the fried brussels sprouts with maple yogurt and the burger with bacon jam! It gets crowded on the weekends, so prepare to wait a bit, or go early.

A naturalist's delight! Take a hike through the China Garden or stop by the Bonsai exhibit. You don't get the woodsy experience as easily, but you'll find the most variety of plants and trees (all labeled) of anywhere around. Great spot for a picnic.

DC is all about museums. There’s Dorothy’s shoes, the Hope Diamond, space shuttles from NASA, etc. In my opinion, the American History and National Museum of Natural History are the best. There’s also the zoo (with pandas) and the Archives (with the Declaration of Independence.) Plus, they are all free!

Entertainment & Activities

A classic D.C. neighborhood on Capitol Hill. Every Saturday and Sunday there is a street fair and flea market with local vendors selling everything from dresses to donuts, regardless of weather. There's also several great stores and restaurants.
