WHALE WATCHING
Portland is one of the best places to do some whale watching. The activity is free, as the cliffs, breakwater and beaches make wonderful viewing. In the Winter months the Southern Wright whales and their calves are often very close to shore, and the 'I Love Portland' Facebook page has many whale photos to vouch for it! Ask at the Visitors Information Centre for where the latest sightings are. Sometimes they are in the Bridgewater Bay and you can watch them from the cottage! Need good weather and good seas for viewing them, so keep an eye on the weather forecasts.
