Made up of one of the most active lobstering community, Stonington is located on the southern tip of Deer Island. It makes for a fantastic day trip - check out the Stonington Opera House for some culture, Old Quarry Ocean Adventures to get out on the water and the Island Heritage Trust's Settlement Preserve to get a sense of the history around the granite quarries of the area. Top it all off with one of the BEST lobster rolls in Maine - straight from the sea!! Nervous Nellies Jams and Jellies is a fun pit stop on the way - as are the galleries in Deer Isle village (including the renowned Haystack School of Craft gallery)
