Markets
Souvenir and Clothes market every Thursday and Sunday from 9 to 16:00h. This market is less expensive but with more choice than the market in Port Louis. Take the bus from the Flic en Flac main road to Quatre Bornes market (main square); the bus leaves every 20min and costs approx. 35 MUR.

Great day trip with the possibility to swim with dolphins
Highly recommended hike to Piton du Canot with a view of 360 degrees. Park your car and start hiking between "Le Chamarel Restaurant" and "Lacaz Chamarel" (Look for a small road and then path on the right side of the main road). For best pictures start hiking at 6 am.

Snorkeling opportunity: on the most northern end of the hotel, you can find a jetty that is publically accessible. It gives access to a natural swimming pool. The water is a little deeper (1-1,5m) here. Snorkeling opportunity especially for beginners. Come in the morning or for sunset.

Locals go absolutely crazy on this racecourse for horses. Recommended for all who want to dive into the local culture. Not operating during the Mauritian summer. Flic en Flac and Mauritius in general do not have many breakfast places. This is one with a nice beach view terrace. The breakfast menu is rather continental.

Roti Aka Vinod beach snack in Flic en Flac
Don´t miss the roti/farata (kind of pita bread) at the public beach in Flic en Flac. Very cheap and really good. With fish, meet or veg. The perfect lunch snack!

Snorkeling in Flic en Flac (Beach behind temple Shivala)
Flic en Flac has three great sites for snorkeling: one between the hotel "Villas Caroline" and the temple "Shivala", one is in front of the hotel La Pirogue and one next to Anelia Hotel (see before). You can either take a boat to reach those sites (just go to the beach in front of the temple and ask the fishermen/skippers) or you swim. You can find a detailed description of how to reach the snorkeling site in front of the temple "Shivala" here (in German):
