Food scene
Culver City has some of the best restaurants in the country. There is a diverse range of cuisine. You will be able to find something delicious no matter what your taste or budget.
Located at Platform, and just a few blocks from the house, this restaurant transports you right to Australia. The "Big Surfer's Brekkie" is my favorite dish. This place is also great for families with kids as there is a little park right next to it.

You will often see a celebrity dining here, with great ambiance and food brought that to you by Oprah's private chef. You can go to the cafe for a casual meal, or sit down in the restaurant for a great evening.

My favorite breakfast spot, and just a short walk from the house. Destroyer is the sister cafe to Vespertine. It is a huge privilege to be able to enjoy such well-crafted food at such affordable prices. It is also an incredible scene, where you can overhear some serious industry talk while enjoying the perfect cup of coffee. All the ceramics are by "Match Studio."

This is an excellent ride, but be sure to carve out some time, as it is 6 miles to the ocean along the path. For serious riders continue down to Manhattan beach or further. Biking along the ocean is a true unique joy of living in the city.

Sightseeing
A beautiful hike just a few blocks from the house. You will be able to see the entire city. Looking left you can see the ocean and to the right downtown Los Angeles. I consider this the best hike in the city and far less crowded than equivalent hikes in the Hollywood Hills. From Carson St go left down Higuera St., right on Lucerne Ave, left on Duquesne Ave, cross Jefferson and then continue up the hill until you see the criss-crossing wooden platform going up the mountain. Alternatively, you can climb the steep stone steps at the base of the hill on the opposite side of the mountain. Door to door it takes about an hour.

Recent renovations are underway by Renzo Piano. This museum is a city staple. My last visit here was to see Yoshitomo Nara exhibit. You can also attend great lectures here and live jazz music on select nights.

My favorite museum in the city, the Norton Simon has an incredible collection of impressionistic work from Degas, to Van Gough, and Rembrant. I am always discovering something new here. It is a drive, about an 1-1.5 hours from the house, but worth it. If you visit here, have lunch at the Langham and continue to drive around San Marino.

Brand new development inspired by the Spanish Steps in Rome, Italy. It is a great place to shop, do yoga, or just read a book. Next door is Amazon, which has taken over the famous Culver Studio's. Many beloved films were shot here, including Alice in Wonderland and Citizen Kane.
