Great side trip and boat ride. Best if walk on passenger and view the bay and mountains from the viewing deck. Museum at Island terminal and a snack shack. Last boat leaves at 4:30 back to Mainland You can go out by car but be very careful about departure times as you can become stranded on the Island.

Beautiful picnic area on the southern tip of Islesboro. Full day trip to ride ferry out, drive to park, then later return to ferry landing. You may have to wait in line for a couple ferry’s to get back. Leave time. Don’t aim for last boat though that may be the one you are on. While you wait for the ferry tour Grindle point and the light house museum
