This little hamlet didn't exist when we started. It has developed into a frontier town - and is a good place to get basics like charcoal, eggs or potatoes.
There are numerous bars and local eateries - CityView Bar deliver food (curries, nyama choma, masala chips and their fine home made sausages from Janets free range pigs), plus they will also deliver drinks. Please call Anita 0704 203481.

This bustling urban satellite has mushroomed in the last few decades. Useful for petrol stations and mechanics, and everything else. There is a big Quickmart just past Masai lodge Road which is very well stocked.

This barely counts as a town - more a suburb. But has some really good places to visit, most notably Matbronze (bronze artefacts and a good cafe) and Ngong House (for the excellent Boho Eatery). Also Cultivar - a fantastic fusion food joint that has limited events, totally worth the gustatory adventure.
Hardy Post has a decent supermarket and an Art Caffe - park securely and free in the basement.
Galleria Mall has the usual selection of banks, a forex bureau, a large Carrefour and an outpost of Nairobi Hospital. Also a Java House, Art Caffe, KFC, Planet Yoghurt and a bunch of other little eateries.

Named after Karen Blixen (visit the museum that is centered around her residence), this suburb is slowly being absorbed into Nairobi, although the residents would deny it.
Talisman, one of the best restaurants in Kenya is here, and Haru, for excellent Japanese. Seafood at Tamambo.
Karen Village has a decent craft scene. There is plenty to do at The Hub and the recently opened Waterfront, and Karen central has lots of street vendors plying their wares.

Bush and beast
Our airbnb's look onto this protected patch of bush - leased to the Kenya Wildlife Service as an adjunct to the bordering Nairobi National Park. Good for a hike - keep a sharp eye out for buffalo. Also spotted here are giraffe, eland, Thomson's gazelles, zebra, the occasional rhino and assorted other plains game.

The eponymous park in the city. At least next to it. It actually separates us from the metropolis, and is a jewel of a protected area. Much wildlife abounds here - from lion to rhino, and pretty much everything in-between.
