Just a short woodland walk away from the boathouse, you have cotehele quay, the mill and cotehele house to have a wander around (national trust). You may need to book depending on coronavirus update if you want to look around the house, however the surrounding area is free. There is also tea rooms at the quay that do the best cream teas!

If you’re into the great outdoors, the tamar trails have various routes for walking, cycling, mountain biking. A favourite of ours is a walk from tamar trails centre to morwellham quay, where you can stop by the river for an ice cream or a pint! It is a days ramble have in mind.

Just 5 minutes walk from the boathouse, hop onto the train for a scenic trip into Plymouth, we recommend have a walk along Plymouth hoe on the front where there are plenty of cafes and restaurants.

Morwellham Quay
If you’re fancying a trip to the sea, Cawsand is about 40 min drive from Calstock and probably your closest. A very calm and sheltered location with crystal blue water, a couple of pubs and cafes, and if you fancied a stretch of the legs there is a walk to Rame head which is just lovely!

Another trip I would certainly recommend is heading to Fowey (harbour town) for the morning and look around the shops/grab a coffee then just around the bay park at Lantic Bay car park for an afternoon on the beach (about 15 minute walk down) but totally worth it for a swim and the scenery is stunning.
