Aneirin lived in the 6th Century AD. He is one of five poets renowned among the Welsh in the 6th century, according to the Historia Brittonum (written c. 830). The Book of Aneirin, dates from about 1265. It is the earliest surviving Welsh poem. The manuscript (probably a copy of a lost 9th century original) is kept at the National Library of Wales, in Aberystwyth (another fantastic place to visit).
