Sightseeing

Wide open spaces, visitors are free to roam pretty much anywhere in amongst the Dartmoor ponies and other semi wild livestock. There are so many walks on Dartmoor that it's got books and books written about it. You can pretty much just park up in any of the many free car parks or laybys and just head off into the moorland.

Historic market town with loads of independent shops, pubs and restaurants. There's a Tavistock town walk that takes in all the historic sites and gives a good overview of the town and it's past. The main cycle route 27 passes through Tavistock and off to Okehampton in the north and Plymouth in the south. There's a real nice walk along the canal starting in the town centre by The Meadows park (complete with a big kids play park) and heading out of town.

Ancient port, semi restored with lots of historic buildings and features. In the summer there is a mine train that takes visitors down into an old copper mine.

In Tamar Trails, very much like Go Ape. High ropes adventure courses, lots of fun, as long as you're ok with heights!
