Right on the way to/from the turnpike off of Hwy 24, this park has a nice trail right by the river, an off-leash dog run, and a frisbee golf course. It's an out-of-the-way but handy place to stretch your legs, especially with dog(s). It's about 10 minutes from the Hide-Away.

Really sweet and surprisingly sophisticated botanical garden--for free--on the shores of Lake Shawnee. Tulip Time is fantastic, but flowers abound all season. Also a super place for dog walking, as the lake has a perfectly kept, wide concrete sidewalk all the way around--7 miles! It's about a 20-25 minutes from the Hide-Away.

In the wintertime, it's difficult NOT to see bald eagles along the spillway south of the Perry dam. Because the Delaware River rarely freezes at the spillway, the eagles gather to fish there. It's also a great place (my favorite) to walk the dogs around the track. That funny green area in the middle is a remote control airfield! You can get there from the Hide-Away in 5 minutes.

It's a gas station with better premium gas than Casey's. They also sell homemade cinnamon rolls made by a lady up the road--quite yummy. There's a fried chicken take-out in the back. Actually pretty good chicken. It's on the right by the stoplight about a half-mile from the Hide-Away.
