There are 4 breweries in town and the others are just as good, but this is a favorite. Check the local listings for the brewery events!

City/town information

Noted as a must see mountain town, easy day hikes, fishing and outdoor events within reach, but the amenities and highlights of a growing town without the crowds. People are friendly, food for every palette, shops, art market, and farmers market on Saturdays, a public pool, bookstores, live music venues and pubs, concerts on the green at Bridge park on Fridays, and 4 great breweries are a speciality here, and everything is within walking distance.

Sightseeing

Worth a visit inside just to admire the old courthouse architecture and the modern remade entrance with the high windows ... head out the back door of the rotunda for a view of the mountains. Inside there is usually rotating art to admire. The historic building has a series of war memorials all the way up to the top of the steps (including the now blocked off civil war memorial that is still being deliberated over), and a couple of great modern statues near the parking lot.

Traveler advice

Getting around

ditch the car ...

you can walk to everything in Sylva. EXCEPT if you want to visit Dillsboro (the arts and crafts next over town with the train) it is a 5-10 minute drive.
