Gorgeous clear and clean (and cold) water - super secret spot for refreshing dips in the heat of summer. Somewhat challenging and rewarding hike all around the lake is a good workout too! Shhh.. don't tell anyone - let's help keep it a secret!

Food scene
This is the best food in Sooke, in my opinion, but I am pretty into culinary stuff. Menu changes with the seasons. Casual gourmet. Everything I have had there has been awesome, they use all very local ingredients, even the drinks are local. Fun cocktails. Owned by lovely people with sustainable and ethical sensibilities and high standards of quality.

this is REALLY REALLY good pizza. About a 25 minute long (beautiful!) drive along the wild west coast - just make sure you have between 1/4 to 1/2 tank of gas as there aren't any gas stations (or cell reception) on the other side of Sooke! Stop at the Sherringham Point Lighthouse on the way for a walk!

Sightseeing
The most stunningly beautiful 20-30 min stroll you could imagine. A thin strip of walkway and beach on either side, reaching out across the harbour, providing a bit of a barrier from the wild open ocean. exciting and potentially dangerous in high winds, the best place to watch the sunset. Just park and walk until you run out of land, sit on a bench for a while, then turn around and come back.

I LOVE GIN. These folks make some lovely spirits. Like Seaside Gin, Kazuki Gin, Rhubarb Gin Liqueur and more! Go for a tasting and pick up something for happy hour back at the cottage.

5 minute bike ride. Great beer, patio, ocean view. Sometimes the Grilled to the Mac food truck is there and you can get a grilled mac n cheese sandwich!

Hike & Walk & Ride
A relatively short and easy walk from Sooke Road through a little garden and grassy area, down a boardwalk trail through the forest to the ocean - walk out onto the boardwalk over the water or follow the trail along the beach at the tideline.
