Traveler advice

Getting around

tuktuks and bodaboda are the fastest way to get around.

Tuk tuks and motorcycles are easier to get around especially if you are running errands. You can also access public transport or taxis depending on how far you're going.
Don't miss

rhumba and bango nights

If you love rhumba and swahili songs then don't miss those at standard grill or any other local places. It's fun.
Customs and culture

Greetings are our way of life

Don't be surprised when people say hello. It's culture, you could answer with Jambo or Mambo for people who don't understand swahili!
Ways to save

public beaches are free

Save some money by enjoying our public beaches which are free!
Book before you go

flexible

Most places are flexible to go. But for dinner reservations or any activity you want to do it's easier to book in advance
What to pack

bring light clothes and comfortable shoes

Since it's usually hot almost all the time, I suggest you travel light. Shorts, light dresses for women, sunglasses and comfortable shoes.
Useful phrases

how to say hello

Jambo - hello here. Hakuna matata- no problem or ok. How much - pesa ngapi. Thank you - Asante
