Best meal in town - steak au poivre. Best frites in the world (and we lived in France for 4 years). Seriously, the best I've ever eaten. It's in downtown Asheville, so about a 30 minute drive, but worth it. They don't take reservations so go early or expect to wait. They have a nice bar upstairs where you can have a drink and/or snack while you wait. Only open for dinner.

Fantastic Indian street food at a fantastic price. Plus they have always had at least one cocktail on tap. The one I like best is Jal Jeera. Delicious! This place is so popular that there's usually a wait, and they don't take reservations, but they have a bar downstairs where you can relax and have a drink while you wait.

3.9 miles from the cottage. Lots of great beers and ales, and good food. I hear that it's the largest and busiest restaurant in NC. There's usually a wait, but there's an upstairs bar where you can drink and often listen / dance to a live band. If you want to tour the brewery, make a reservation well in advance.

Great selection of beer, full service bar, and the mixed drinks tend to be pretty generous. The food is pretty darn good for a bar. The seats at the bar are fairly comfortable, but all the rest of the seats are pretty hard, but then I admit that I have a sensitive butt.

We went recently and really liked it. In addition to lots of beers, they have wine and a full bar for cocktails. They have a food truck, but unlike most breweries, you don't have to go outside. You order inside at the bar and they bring the food to you.

This is our new favorite brewery! They also serve mixed drinks and sometimes they have live music. Fun! And so close by!
