Both kids and grown-ups will love MACS! They serve a wide variety of macaroni and cheese and sandwiches in a casual environment (order at the counter and they bring out your food). We first had MACS in the Wisconsin Dells, but they have expanded to a handful of locations. This is one of their newest ones, less than 2 miles from our house! Everything is good so I can’t really give any specific recommendations :)

Our favorite breakfast place is Blues Egg. It has all the normal breakfast foods but with a modern American flair. It is the best place in town for breakfast.

Wisconsin is famous for its custard and Kopps is arguably the best in the state. It can be pretty busy due to its reputation, but the line moves fast. They have a rotating “Flavor of the Day” (just like Culver’s and most custard places) so check out their online calendar and that can help you decide which day to stop.

Erik and the boys love this trail that ends at the foot of Lake Michigan. It is wooded and close to the water so not too hot in the summer. Also free and about 30 minutes away

Atwater is great to visit even (or maybe especially) when it’s not summer because you can take the long walk down to the water and enjoy two different playground, including one practically geared toward adults!
