If you want an adventure, go wine tasting at Maui Winery at Ulupalakua Ranch, which is ‘upcountry’. It is a BEAUTIFUL drive but go slow … it’s a narrow windy road. Stop at the general store across the street from the winery and enjoy a venison/beef/veal/garden burger.

Slow down as you drive through little roadside village of Olowalu, about 15 minutes south of Lahaina. Open daily from 7am – 8pm, 820 Olowalu Village Road. All the breads are home baked. Food is fresh and very tasty as so many ingredients are sourced locally. Try their sandwiches or burgers with Kula onions! “Glorified grandma comfort food”. Leave room for pie as that is what Leoda’s is famous for!

Whale Watching
It is estimated 12,000 whales migrate to Hawaii, and by the winter season we begin to see them arrive on Maui. By February, everywhere you look you see whales! The majority of the whales that migrate will all be here during this month, making it one of the best months for whale watching in Maui. The Maui Nui Basin became a federally protected sanctuary for humpback whales in the 1990’s because so many migrate to this little area of water in the Pacific Ocean. Whales do not congregate in any other area of Hawaii like Maui from December 15th- April 15!
