You can drive up to the gate and tell the folks you are having lunch at one of the restaurants. You can also walk around the lake and explore all the amenities. It's the only five star/five diamond hotel in the state.

You can take the train or drive up on your own. The drive is much shorter than taking the train and of course much cheaper. You have to abide by the train's schedule regarding how long you can stay on the mountain, also. It's a full afternoon trip, which ever way you go.

I like the small town of Idaho Springs and the fact it has affordable hotels and unique places to eat all in a small radius. The Indian Hot springs are indoors so you can go no matter the weather.

This has rich history and parking so you won't get a ticket! No small item for Manitou Springs. The tour is affordable and you can get a spot of tea afterwards.

City/town information

Just a fun and beautiful treck up the mountains, go on the train ride, see the great little museums and stop in Victor while you are there. And yes, a bit of gambling is always fun.

Food scene

I have dined at Panino's for as long as it's been down the street from our home. The owners are local and the food is good and not too expensive. It's about 145 feet from our front door!

This is the oldest golf course in our state. It's only 7 minutes from my house and you can go just to the driving range for a few dollars a bucket of balls. You can use their golf clubs if you didn't bring your own! The drinks and food after wards are in a great restaurant where you can see the mountains and sit inside or outside. My family and I go just to do that!

It's a coffee shop, wine and beer bar as well as a great place to hear music. Check their calendar to see what unique music is scheduled. They serve in door and out door, allow your pet when outdoors. A limited but healthy menu is available. (also the owner used to live next door, say hi to Russ.)

Traveler advice

Getting around

We have a personal driver available for your transportation.

Our professional driver can take you to and from the airport (either DIA or Colorado Springs Airport) to and from any attraction or destination you need. Please indicate your interest when you book and I will give you his contact information.
Getting around

Guests big concern: how to get from Denver airport to me.

If you are not renting a car, there are three options to get from DIA to Colorado Springs. 1. Take an Uber, cost about $140 2. Groom transportation is $50 a person and it drops you at Colorado College, which is 15 minutes walk to my house. 3. From DIA you can pick up the a train to Denver Union Station. This cost $10 a person and is about 40 minutes. From there you take the Bustang bus to Colorado Springs downtown terminal (also 15 min walk to my house) that is $12 a person and takes about two hours. Groom and Bustang bus system are easily found on line.
